Karen Barfield,
a native Houstonian, has had a successful photography business in
Spring Branch since 1972. She specializes in portraits, weddings,
glamour photography of women and teaches photography lessons. She
is an avid traveler and has assembled an extensive collection of
nature and scenic photographs.
She is a member
of the national, state and local professional photography associations
and has been president of the Professional Photographers Guild of
Houston. She has won many ribbons and trophies in professional competition
and has had the honor of having portraits accepted by the Professional
Photographers of America for display in their National Print Exhibit.
Karen is a Master
Photographer, a Certified Professional Photographer and a Photographic
Craftsman. These are titles awarded by the Professional Photographers
of America to photographers who have demonstrated exceptional technical
knowledge and artistic abilities in the field of professional photography.
Karen has given
many lectures to both professional and amateur photography groups
and has often served as a judge in photography contests. She is
most proud of the Honorary Professor of Photography award she received
from Sam Houston University for outstanding service in photographic
education.
Karen has been
teaching private photography lessons to amateurs and professionals
for over twenty years. The cost of private lessons is $100 per hour.
The demand on Karen's time for private lessons has become so great
that she has created a photography course designed for teaching
small groups of three to five students. The cost of each course
is $200 and will include three lessons of two hours each.
